A
baby will learn more during the first years of life than at
any other period in his/her life. This program supports parents
in giving their children the best possible start in life as
parents are their children’s first and most influential
teachers. |
Current research in brain development
clearly indicates that the emotional, physical and intellectual
environment that a child is exposed to in the early years of life
has a profound impact on how the brain is organized. The experiences
a child has with respect to parents and caregivers significantly
influence how a child will function in school and later in life.
Parent-child attachments lay the emotional, physical and intellectual
foundation for every child to enter school ready to learn and develop
the potential to become productive, well-adjusted members of society.
This
program welcomes every baby and is offered to all Mono County expecting
parents, families with newborns and children through 18 months.
Certified Educators and Public Health Nurses provide personal home
visits, developmental screenings and a resource network to all local
community programs, services, and events that are of interest to
parents with children 0-5 years of age. All parents are welcome
to participate regardless of situation and every baby is monitored
for healthy development. Visits include information, education and
support in developmental milestones, children's health, parenting,
breastfeeding, home and car seat safety.
All services are free and confidential
and are provided in the comfort of your home. This program has no
qualification requirements. Any parent in Mono County may ask for
a home visiting educator, nurse or lactation consultant.
Visits are offered monthly or as needed
to provide information and resources for parents to give their children
the best possible start in life.
This program also:
